“After having taken an eight year pause from my pursuit of learning to drive, I was naturally very cautious about returning back behind the wheel, all of which quickly dissipated shortly after taking lessons with Judie after she was referred to me by a friend.

” I approached Judie for some refresher lessons.  Indeed I got my driving license 40 years ago and only after very few lessons and have barely ever driven since, hence my driving skills were poor and I did not feel confident enough to drive again (the last time I touched a steering wheel was over 10 years ago).  I had a goal in mind (driving a small van for a few hundred miles for a removal) and wanted to learn driving again. I had 6 lessons with Judie and overall I found it was a very pleasant and useful experience. I found Judie was relaxed, flexible and instilled confidence in me. She gave me a lot of information during the lessons and I was also able to ask all the questions I needed. With her guidance I progressed from week to week, practising on a range of different roads. I never had the feeling that Judie was watching the clock, on the contrary, I found Judie had my interest in mind and was not trying to sell me more lessons than I needed. I have managed to drive that van and came back to London in one piece. It was a Ford Transit custom 290, so a fairly small van,  not so much bigger than a car. It was a 2017 model and the driving itself was as “comfortable” as driving a car.  Vans are a bit higher so you have a better view.  On the downside it’s a bit bigger than a car so you do need to be careful in these narrow roads, and also there is no reverse mirror so you need to use the 2 large side mirrors instead.  My aim is to now try and drive a car on a regular basis in order to build up on my driving skills (or at least not to forget) as I know that only frequent driving will make me a thoroughly confident and reliable driver. I decided that in this busy city, it was about time I took some driving lessons. Judie and her company came highly recommended for reasons unrelated to driving. She was esteemed for her good nature, patient character, commitment, and drive.

So it began… I booked a pre-lesson session and found all of the above to be true – and after 10 sessions it definitely was true. I don’t think there would have been any other company who sustained my stubborn nature!

I took a break to the point where Judie had to ask where I was – my response was “living life a little, but I’ll call” (it was a year of much travel for me).

When I did resume, drivesafe4lifeacademy were still committed to my outcomes and goal at competitive and reasonable rates.

Judie pushed and encouraged me in aspects of driving I had never considered. She ensured that each lesson was tailor-made specifically for me. My learning environment became more than a driving lesson; I would enjoy these nuggets of life-long skills.

Me passing my driving test first time with 4 minor faults would have never been possible without Judie! Shes the most patient woman I’ve ever met. No matter how many times I forgot what she told me literally 2 minutes ago, she would never get angry!

It took me 7 months to learn how to drive and I can’t thank Judie enough for her patience and encouragement throughout my driving journey.

I started learning to drive in September 2013 and 10 months on I now hold a full UK driving licence. On top of this I qualified for my BTEC level 1 in safe road skills and attitudes,  all with the help of Drive Safe 4 Life Academy.

When I took my first lesson I was really nervous but excited to embark on this challenge to become a safe, competent and confident driver. With the help of my instructor Judie, I learnt how to read the road and approach situations in a safe manner.

I am now going to begin the pass plus scheme and the BTEC level 2 in Demonstrate safe driving so I can widen my experience on different roads.

My first driving instructor had little patience and a short temper. My second instructor never gave me feedback or encouraged me.  My third instructor was Judie!  She had all the qualities my first and second instructor lacked. She was honest, encouraging and patient.  Judie gave me the ability to think as a “driver”.  She would prompt me when needed but would also give me the opportunity to think independently.

The best thing about Judie’s lessons is that she will always ask you what you want to do at the start of the lesson.  This really helped increase my confidence as it empowered me to make decisions and choices.  My answer would always be “Roundabouts!”.  At the end of the lesson Judie would encourage me to reflect on the lesson. What went well?  What could I do better next time?

Judie was so supportive throughout all the lessons but particularly to the run up of my test.  She gave me lots of written information and answered all my questions with great detail.  Although I was nervous the morning of my test I felt 100%prepared. I passed my test first time with three minors.
